Smart urban lighting is a key and integral element of modern life in the urban environment. Accepting this fact as a basis for exploring the ever-increasing needs of the citizens for information, immediacy and the use of new technologies, the idea of designing a lighting body that will adapt to the characteristics of the environment in which it is installed was explored. This essay was written according to the following axes: 1. Innovative design that is leading to ease of manufacture and disposal. 2. Ease of adaptation to the needs of the individual installation points. 3. Reduce energy consumption by using LED lighting and dimmer. 4. Instant access to the internet through hub portals. 5. Informing citizens and visitors through written and audio messages. 6. Presentation of short questionnaires and real time transfer of the answers for issues concerning the city. 7. Provision of augmented reality maps for the various landmarks as well as the ability to demonstrate the routes to them for visitors. Subsequently, data taken from the Municipality of Kalamaria and plans for a newly built park located at the outskirts of the city, near a Metro station and a city bus terminal, thus making a connecting node with the city's airport were used, in order to investigate the integration of the lighting body into its' immediate environment, the service features it can offer and its suitability.
