The present work is a literature review of the beneficial effects of art therapy in dealing with the fear of childbirth. In the first part of the work, definitions are given for the fear of childbirth, its prevalence, the factors that it seems to interact and its causes through the review of researches and statistical data. After that follows a section that examines the theoretical background behind art therapies through the theories of Naumurg and Kramer. The central part of the work is developed in the following three chapters which include a series of studies relevant to the issue of fear of childbirth and subsequent art therapy interventions. A series of studies are presented that refer to the beneficial effects of art therapy on new mothers and also to the therapeutic effects that art therapy can have on the mother-child relationship. More researches are presented and analyzed which refer exclusively to pregnant women and art therapy interventions prenatally. The examination of these therapeutic interventions is done through grouping the conclusions of those studies ,so themes such as health, preparation for birth and motherhood, follow-up and self-esteem, etc arise. The usual mediums used in art therapy are presented in the penultimate chapter, which include many creative forms such as music therapy, painting, mandala making, etc. Finally, the conclusions drawn from the overall research process are formulated and a proposal is made for future research.
