ABSTRACT The subject addressed in this study is the interpersonal and communication al skills developed by the school principal with the pupils' parents. The subject is approached both theoritically and empirically. The main purpose of the research is to show the importance of these skills within the school unit and the frequency with which they are applied. The survey involved a total of 126 directors of elementary schools, equally divided between men and women. The majority of the sample has many years of work experience. Research was carried out as to whether primary school teachers use their interpersonal skills and communication skills when interacting with the pupils' parents, how often they communicate with them, the techniques they choose to resolve a resulting conflict.It has also been researched how their gender , years of service and the level of study , affects these choices. It has been found that many interpersonal skills are used by both men and women managers in order to achieve effective communication. Although the opinions quoted differ according to gender, level of study and work experience, however, most of them consider that the cooperation of both parties is an integral part of school life and they are constantly pursuing it. The necessity of interpersonal relationships is obvious, as they enhance the quality upgrading of the work of the school unit and promote education in general.
