The purpose of this study is to research the factors that discourage the women educators in Primary schools of Aitoloakarnania County, to get a higher administrative position, and the factors that encourage them too. Moreover, through this research the stereotypes that women educators have for being principals of primary schools are researched. The research’s tool was the questionnaire, from which qualitative and quantitative data were collected. The questionnaire contained three parts. The first part was compromised by demographic data, the second part was about the encouraging and discouraging factors of getting a higher administrative position for the women educators, and the third part, that was about the stereotypes referred to women being principals of primary schools. The questionnaire was answered by 141 women educators who were working in Primary Schools of Aitoloakarnania County for the school year 2018-2019. After analyzing the collected data, discouraging factors for getting a higher administrative position were mainly: the preference of teaching in class, the stress and the responsibilities of these positions. Also, a large proportion of the sample showed as discouraging factors: the lack of needed specifications of the legislation, the low interest for principal positions and with a smaller percentage, the assumption that the selection system is perforated. On the contrary, encouraging factors were basically: the acquisition of formal qualifications, the attendance in educational seminars about school management, the experimental learning near an educational administrator, the support of their colleagues and also their personal offering and vision in improving the school unit, then in smaller percentage the different way of evaluation / other selection criteria. As for the perceptions for the way women educators in administration, the opinions differ.
