Οι απόψεις των εκπαιδευτικών Α' θμιας εκπαίδευσης για τα προβλήματα συμπεριφοράς των μαθητών στον σχολικό χώρο: (Master thesis)

This assignment was conducted for the Master’s Programme “Management and organization of educational Units” at Alexandrio Technological Institute of Thessaloniki during the academic year 2017-2018. The purpose of the assignment is to study the issue of problematic behaviour of students at the formal school environment on a theoretical level as well as from an empirical viewpoint. The appearance of problematic behaviours at the school context has a negative influence on the process of achieving educational goals and involves all parties participating in schooling. It is frequent for students to bully other students, disrupt the flow of the lesson or disregard it, act violently or use profane language and even exhibit destructive behaviours. The development of educational psychology and the surfacing of different approaches formed because of it such as the behavioural, cognitive, sociocognitive and psychodynamic approach have offered a variety of methods and possibilities to the educator in order to tackle problematic behaviours. The importance, however, lies on the prevention of such behaviours through student encouragement, application of rules, increase in student motivation, and use of conversation. For this assignment, a survey was conducted among 100 educators from primary schools in Kilkis and Serres Prefectures. The survey suggested that the most common kind of problematic behaviour in class was lesson disruption due to students talking with each other and their habit of conversing without keeping turn-taking rules in discourse. The survey also suggests that educators emphasize aggressive behaviours and consider family and media the major contributing factors in its surfacing. Finally, educators consider conversation, student encouragement and application of rules as the most crucial means to avoid problematic behaviours
