During this paper we studied pulmonary hypoplasia caused by fetal ascites in congenital cytomegalovirus infection despite fetal therapy (CMV). It is a rare condition, but with catastrophic morbidity among babies and it causes other illnesses (ex. Deafness), in case the baby survives. The goal was to obtain deeper knowledge about the causes, the symptoms and mostly how to deal with it, as it is a condition still under study. Specifically, up until this day, there is not a known, fully effective medical intervention for early infections from cytomegalovirus during pregnancy.
