The present thesis is about the meaning of crisis and its management within a school environment. Namely the readiness plan for intervention and methods necessary for the confrontation of a sudden and unexpected appearance of an event, which may cause disturbing situations and is capable of causing considerable agitation at school. Crisis such as floods, fire, earthquake and other natural disasters or even violence amongst pupils, accidents in the school venue, vandalism and bullying. Moreover, what is also analyzed in this thesis are important issues that rise when handling such situations, as the prominence of dangers causing crisis and the measures of precautions to be taken in such crisis states. Other important matters are the establishment of a disaster recovery plan, decision making, communication, crisis management group and lastly, the need for staff training and their assessment. The aim of the survey is firstly to present, based on the educators’ stance, how they perceive the meaning of ‘crisis at school’ and its management. Secondly, to present their knowledge on the crisis management group and finally to highlight their attitude on awareness issues for the resolution of serious conditions and their active participation on crisis management groups. What was also researched, was the educators’ interest for the equivalent training and education to ensure optimal performance in their effort to prevent a crisis having the least possible implications on school community members.
