Νευρομυοσκελετικές δυσλειτουργίες στους μουσικούς και η φυσιοθεραπευτική αντιμετώπισή τους (Bachelor thesis)

Άχτση, Αλεξάνδρα

The ideal function of the upper limbs is an essential element in certain occupations. One of the occupations that the upper limb and the hand are important as implementation tools, is that of musician’s. The musicians, professional or not, come daily confronted with intense and continuous study of various tracks. Persistent study, often leads to musculoskeletal or neurological dysfunctions directly related to the implementation of musical instrument. This is because the pathology is either created by the patient's involvement with music, or affects the enforceability of music. The causes of failure can be caused by continuous repetitive movements and great pressure from the instrument to specific parts of the body. Main charge, however, faces the arm, especially the hand, which is understandable as the musicians use the upper limb daily and for many hours during the practice of a musical instrument. The kinesiology carried out in the performance of a musical instrument is unique and complex. This leads to the appearance of a wide range of pathology which mainly affects the upper part of the trunk and the upper limb. The variety of dysfunctions encountered by musicians is large, resulting involving several medical specialitiesspecialties, in the diagnosis and rehabilitation, such as orthopedic, neurologist, hand surgeon and physiotherapist. The pathology onset is related to both the frequency and duration of music study, and to the wrong musician’s body posture while playing music. The physiotherapy treatment vary depending on the patient's pathology and the type of musical instrument the patient is involved, as the therapist must adapt the treatment plan according to the patient's needs. Finally, the most important treatment is prevention. For this reason, physicians and physiotherapists must be aware of the specifics of the execution of a musical instrument to advise musicians, children and adults, appropriate to avoid injuries. The main purpose of the work is the presentation of statistical data on neuromusculoskeletal disorders affecting musicians. This purpose would help in searching physiotherapeutic response specific for the musicians. Equally important objective of the work is the disclosure to the public and to the medical world, the kinesiology and pathology that occurs in musicians. The above is an important purpose, as awareness of various medical specialists and physiotherapists to create surveys for studying the pathology that occurs in musicians to avoid injuries
