The aim of this study is to investigate the use of neural networks, and more specifically Neuroph library, on face recognition and identification. For this purpose, the creation of an application, using this library of neural network, was necessary. In this application, the process of face identification can be accomplished by extracting characteristics of a face and comparing them with the characteristics of other faces. This paper, first, provide an overview of face detection and recognition. Then, the neural networks and the way that can help on face recognition are analyzed. Finally, after some tests, using the application that has been created for this study, the conclusions are described on this paper. These conclusions reveal that, even if there are many problems must be solved, the Neuroph library and generally the neural networks are very useful because of the quite successful face recognitions and identifications.
