The rapid progress of technology for several decades and the progress of advanced Internet services in recent years are affected heavily on our daily lives in many ways. The Augmented Reality is considered one of the newest developing technologies and one of the computer science research objects in the field of Virtual Reality. One feature of the technology is to create the illusion of coexistence real and virtual world in real time and space. Today we can find Augmented Reality applications in medicine, advertising, culture, tourism, education. In this thesis, based on the characteristics of augmented reality and the use of smart electronic devices, we studied the architecture, the data model and the applicability of the technology. Our aim is to develop an augmented reality service on the field of education that leverages advanced Internet services, providing information in real time according to user’s choices. To achieve this goal and from the scope of education, we created an application that uses the interfaces of various dynamic online platforms and augments the user’s reality with the appropriate digital content. To evaluate the service effectiveness we performed an experimental procedure. After analyzing the results we came to positive conclusions encouraging us for future extensions of the application.
