Σύστημα ανάρτησης οχημάτων (Bachelor thesis)
Ξυπόλυτος, Κωνσταντίνος
Undoubtfully, we are living in the age of technology. Every day, we see that the
development of technology is increasingly growing and to a considerable extent in the
automotive sector. Comfort, passenger safety, low maintenance costs are some of the
factors that drive manufacturers into modern and efficient suspension systems design,
taking always into account the various elements that can affect their smooth operation
and consequently the comfort of the passengers.
Suspension systems are available on the market, covering a wide range of clientele
with different needs, requirements and aesthetics, so dealerships are tailored to the
needs of their buyers.
The suspension system consists of a set of mechanical joints and fittings that work
together in harmony with springs and shock absorbers and control vertical wheel
vibration. Suspension is a type of elastic coupling that separates the non-suspended
masses, such as wheels and brake discs, from the suspended ones such as frame and
engine. In addition, it is the medium that interferes between the wheels and the
passenger compartment.
The operation of the suspensions is important because it concerns both passenger
comfort in the cabin, namely the reduction of the oscillations that reach the body due
to road abnormalities and, on the other hand, better and safer driving. The purpose of
the vehicle is to be able to follow the curves of the curves and maintain the course the
driver wishes.
The need to create a suspension system existed from the time man used carriages
as a vehicle. The suspension system transmits all the forces generated during the
vehicle's movement and, in general, its static and dynamic condition, from the nonsuspended to the suspended masses and vice versa. The main parts of a suspension
system are springs, shock absorbers, spherical couplings and elastic suspension parts.
