Διοίκηση συγκρούσεων και συναισθηματική νοημοσύνη στις σχολικές μονάδες (Master thesis)

The goal of this dissertation is to investigate the views of Primary School teachers of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki on conflicts that are being developed among them in the school units as well as the role of Emotional Intelligence of each teacher in the emergence of conflicts. The dissertation consists of two parts. The first part is the theoretical and the second part is the research. The theoretical part analyzed the concept of conflict, its types and causes in addition with conflict resolution strategies. The concept of Emotional Intelligence, its theoretical models, the importance of enhancing teachers’ Emotional Intelligence in the school environment, as well as the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and School Leadership were also investigated. The research section begins with the presentation of the research questions. The survey was carried out with a quantitative approach from mid-November 2018 to early January 2019 and was attended by 113 teachers. The research tool used to conduct the survey was a Likert scale questionnaire, consisting of 46 questions specifically designed for this research. Data analysis was then performed using the SPSS statistical program. The results of the analysis suggest that conflicts prohibit effective communication and cooperation among teachers and emphasize the need for teachers to learn about conflict management. It has also emerged that the Emotional Teacher Intelligence indicator is not related to the causes of conflict among teachers in school units.
