The aim of the present postgraduate thesis is to investigate and depict the primary school teacher’s views concerning self-evaluation of the school unit on the peripheral unit of Euboia. At first, the theoretical part of the project is developed starting from the conceptual clarification of the term “self-evaluation”. Then, the report of the school’s self evaluation system follows and the theoretical part is concluded by reporting the theoretical base and the ideological background of self-evaluation. Afterwards, the empirical part follows which includes the methodology that was followed during the investigation, its results, its exploitable conclusions and the suggestions that result from it. A positive attitude on the part of the primary teachers of Euboia that took part in the research concerning the self-evaluation of the school unit is indicated by the findings of the research. The importance of the evaluation of educational work is recognized, not only in relation to teachers’ feedback but also for the improvement of the procedures followed and the educational work produced. However, the results of the engagement and the “first acquaintance” of teachers with self-evaluation issues are distinctively noticed. Those results emerge after its first compulsory implementation in 2013-2014. This implementation seems to have created a self-evaluation culture and a theoretical background, which under certain circumstances may impel teachers to show a more positive attitude towards self-evaluation. This positive attitude is showcased since teachers recognize the necessity and the purpose of self-evaluation. They agree to participate in procedures that promote it and highlight both their professional and personal role in the school units thus strengthening newly created policies such as the institution of the Educational Work Coordinator and the upgraded role of the person responsible for Educational Issues that function with self-evaluation terms and qualitative reconstruction of the educational operation as a whole.
