In the general frame of changes and reconsideration, school should take into account the new data and be released from its traditional structure. The Greek educational system which is centralized, affects all the people who work at school or for school. Thus, it also affects the school principal role. The principal has the role of a maker, a commander, an instructor, a trainer and a teacher. He supervises, checks, leads, trains both students and teachers on the other hand, he functions as a bureaucrat as well, which in many cases leads to a role mix-up. In this project, we will describe the administrative frame work of our educational system and the principal’s status and role in it. Then, a bibliographic review of the main factors that cause anxiety to the principals will follow. In the second part of this project, the results of a survey carried out on 20 principals of secondary education in Ioannina, are shown. The survey method chosen, was the structured interview so that the principals could freely express their point of view. The project ends with the anxiety treatment strategies employed by the interviewed principals.
