Χατζηλευτέρη-Μιχάλα, Ειρήνη
The current thesis aims to present the incumbent teachers' attitudes, who work as
Theologians in public school units of the Secondary Education in the Municipality of
Thessaloniki, concerning the Legislative Framework of the New Curriculum for the Religious
Education. For the presentation of the educators' attitudes the Method of the Standardized
Questionnaire was used.
In the introductory part of this dissertation, the reasons, which draw the interest for the
engagement with the particular topic, are stated. In the theoretical part the Legislative
Framework of the Religious Education in Europe is presented, as well as, the broader frame
of the Subject of the Religious Education in Greece. This description involves the legislative
subject review and the presentation of the Subject characteristics in the Secondary Education
these days with the Implementation of the New Curriculum. Additionally, the Legislative
Framework for the New Curriculum for the Subject of Religious Education in the Primary
Educational Level is presented. However, the main focus is on the Secondary Educational
Level. Later on, some brief information is given regarding both the content and the form of
the New Curriculum. Last but not least, the public conversation is shown, concerning not only
the traits and the character of the Subject of Religious Education in Greece, but also the New
Curricula.
In the second part of this dissertation are included attitudes of Theologians working in
the Secondary Educational Level, for three particular topics:
i. the Legislative Frame of the Subject of Religious Education,
ii. the New Curricula for the Subject of Religious Education on the Primary School, in
the Junior High School and in High School,
iii. the Religious Education in Europe.
The survey showed two specific elements:
a. The extent to which the incumbent educators are not well-informed about the general
Greek and European legislation for the Subject of Religious Education and the New
Curricula.
b. The conclusion that educators who have completed further studies and have obtained
higher qualifications are absolutely well-informed.
