Quality education and school effectiveness are the main focus of the education policy
of most European countries. School effectiveness is the outcome of all the potential agents
involved in the educational process, educational leaders, educators, student body and parents.
This paper examines the contribution of two of the above agents, educational leaders and
educators, to school effectiveness. School effectiveness can be achieved through the
implementation of evaluation processes. Furthermore, school effectiveness is enhanced through
the evaluation of each stage of the education process. Therefore, the concept of school
assessment and evaluation is closely tied to that of school effectiveness. This paper aims to
demonstrate the contribution of the assessment of school leadership and school teaching staff
in the improvement of school effectiveness. One of the basic aims of this paper is to contribute
both on a theoretical and a practical level to the investigation of these factors and their
relationship. A qualitative research method was chosen for the collection of data, namely
interviews. The research sample was comprised of 16 secondary education teachers, who have
either served or are serving in educational leadership positions or are engaged in classroom
teaching.
