Τhe effectiveness of dietary workplace interventions on how to promote healthy eating among office workers (Bachelor thesis)

Χασιώτη, Αμαλία

Objective: To examine and describe the published up-to-date data on the effectiveness of dietary interventions in promoting healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyles among office workers. Design: PubMed, EBSCO (MEDLINE, Academic Search Elite, CINAHL Plus, PsycARTICLES, PsycINFO), Cochrane Library, SCOPUS, and Google Scholar were searched on February 2019 and the last search was run on 16 of April 2019. Results: Initially the literature search identified 6647 studies and the final number of studies that met the inclusion criteria was 25. The intervention types identified were web-based, food-based, information and multicomponent. The most commonly used types were information and web-based programs. Positive effects for increasing fruits and vegetables consumption and diet were found. Moreover, improving diet behaviors, increasing diet knowledge, and aiding weight loss were reported. Improvements in health-related outcomes were also observed and were mainly in body composition and clinical biomarkers. Conclusions: Findings suggest that workplace dietary interventions can positively influence diet and health outcomes. However, there is no design that fits all cases. Moreover, suggestions for effective intervention components have been made.
