Based on the data of the modern era, the subject of interest among the many developments,
the field of ecological cosmetics was chosen. Specifically, this thesis investigates in detail
the knowledge, attitude and environmentally-friendly purchasing behavior of the residents of
the municipality of Thessaloniki during March-May 2019. Initially, the research team
formulated the stages of the research process, including the impetus. the purpose of the
research, with the aim of introducing the reader to research. In this context, the team initially
focused on the analysis of secondary sources and the conduct of 3 interviews with persons in
the cosmetics field, with key themes related to understanding the cosmetics market, the
factors affecting the cosmetics market and the cosmetics market. consumer behavior. The
literature review of the cosmetics industry and in particular the study of eco-cosmetics has
shown an increasing trend, specifying positive developments in the future. Several studies
have highlighted that the Greek consumer has shift to eco-cosmetics because of the safety
they exude and their natural composition over synthetic/conventional ones.
In the second part of the survey, a survey was conducted among 120 households in the
urban area of Thessaloniki in the period 03-04/19 using a questionnaire. The type of survey
was through a personal interview and the sampling frame was a map of building blocks of
the municipality of Thessaloniki. The sampling method applied was the one with
Probabilities, namely the Complex Random Sampling by Areas. After all the questionnaires
were collected, they were passed to the PSPP statistical program and the results were
obtained. The conclusions of the present primary survey on Eco-friendly consumption
showed that out of 120 respondents 45% between an eco-friendly and a co-product had a
«Few time» chosen the eco-product independently of its price (Τable A02), the highest
percentage being (32,5%) of respondents have never bought ecological cosmetics for their
care, only 5% buy ecological cosmetics «All the time» (Table A16). Finally, important
finding is that the Greek public's interest in the environment and its protection has increased,
although its environmental-friendly consumption remains low.
