Οινοτουρισμός (Bachelor thesis)

Κουιμτσίδου, Αναστασία/ Μιχαηλίδου, Ευγενία

In recent decades, the evolution of the tourist product into more "alternative" forms, has emerged as a need to address the challenges and negative impacts of mass tourism on tourism destinations. Among the "Alternative forms of tourism", enotourism or wine tourism, the blend of the wine and tourism industry (Alonso & Liu, 2012), since the 1990s has begun to become more and more dynamic, contributing to sustainability, local development and wealth creation of previously vulnerable destinations while taking into account environmental protection. The current research deals with the matter of tourism- and wine-making industry under the concept of "wine tourism" and their particular interdependence with the country of origin and the thereafter importance for the development of the region. The scientific research in the field appears to be rather recent and thus relatively limited. Therefore, through the accession and review of the necessary international and Greek literature, this is a research effort to analyze wine tourism as a phenomenon of alternative tourism, on a global scale as well as within the Greek territory, where the prospects of exploiting wine tourism in the tourist development of Greece are still being sought.
