Intervertebral disc herniation of the cervical spine is a disease, which shows up when the fibrous ring of the intervertebral disc ruptures and the gel nucleus exits, resulting in the pressure of some spinal nerve root. This is due to many factors including the spinal cord injury and the spinal degeneration. The symptoms differ from patient to patient and depend on the level of damage. The doctor makes the diagnosis, processes the treatment plan for the problem and performs the appropriate medical procedures. The physiotherapist in collaboration with the doctor and depending on the findings of the assessment of the problem, will apply techniques aimed at improving the patient’s condition. This dissertation establishes and analyzes this problem, trying to describe as effectively as possible the pathology of the intervertebral disc herniation and the treatment of it, surgical or not, including special techniques and an indicative physiotherapy program.
