During the last decades, the interest of the human personality researchers has been transferred from the intellectual to the other abilities of human potential which are related with emotional factors that can influence the human behavior, the social interaction and therefore the effectiveness at work. High significance has also been given to the role of emotions in the implementation of leadership and their incorporation in all levels and forms of management.
The detection of these factors may be more frequent in a business environment however it seems to have α core position in the educational organizations as well. This can be happening, because in these sectors where success is not easily measured by the achievement of quantitative targets, the principle of connectivity is dominant in human relationships. Moreover one variable that is supposed to contribute to the successful administration of human relationships is the Emotional Intelligence (EΙ). Empirical studies have demonstrated its relation to the effective Leadership with the notion of the influence of the employees so that they can commit to the cooperation for the achievement of changes, which in turn will improve the organization.
In the framework of the above the aim of the present paper is to research and study the relationship between the leading (administrative, communicative, educational) and emotional (self-consciousness, self-control, empathy, employment of emotions for the resolution of problems) abilities/aptitudes of school leaders, according to the assessments of the teachers- subordinates.
After the evaluation of the relevant bibliography, a quantitative approach is administered through the completion of electronic questionnaires which is followed by a multilevel analysis by the statistical tool SPSS. The results from a sample of 195 educators, employed in the Educational Sector, demonstrate that there is a strong, positive and statistic connection between EΙ and Leadership.
In conclusion, the emotionally intelligent principal, who accumulates a number of Emotional Intelligence aptitudes in his personal profile which have an impact on his social one, is fundamental for the success of the current school.
