The purpose of this research is to present the views of the teachers of the secondary education units of the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania regarding the selection of school principals. To this end, it was attempted to investigate teachers' views on the criteria and selection procedures, their evaluation, the selection of more qualified principals and how to improve the system of selecting principals. The quantitative method was used for the methodological approach with a questionnaire data collection tool. 201 questionnaires were completed with the views of the teachers of secondary education in N. Aitoloakarnania, while ensuring their anonymity. The Microsoft Excel software package and SPSS 20.0 contributed to the processing of the quantitative data. From the findings, it is found that the majority of teachers considered the most important criteria for the selection of principals was their years of service, acting as a deputy director, deputy director, lab manager and director. The qualifications related to the personality, skills and abilities of the candidate director are considered very important, but cannot be identified by the selection board through the selection process, the interview. The interview is considered to contribute positively to the selection of the most suitable for the position of School Unit Manager. More important than measurable criteria is the administrative experience that favors older directors and prevents newer directors. In addition, postgraduate, doctoral and other studies are equally important when it comes to educational administration.
