This present study aims to record the most important parts which will shed light on the insurance systems of two totally different countries, this of Greece and the Netherlands, and their comparison. To assess the effectiveness of a health system the problems should be first detected, comprehended and at a later stage they should be resolved. This study is a literature review and consists of four chapters. The first chapter referes to some general data of the health status in Europe. In the second chapter the Greek health system is analysed and in the third chapter the Dutch system is analyzed respectively. In the end, the fourth chapter focuses on the comparison between these two systems. In conclusion, the two health systems present various differences. An indicative reference is that the Dutch health system is more easily accessible, with better benefits and the opportunity to choose the health provider of your preference. The Greek health system, on the other hand, is not very accessible in comparison with the Dutch system, but it offers a bigger range of providers and a greater coverage of needs. Therefore, it is hard to say which of these two health systems is more efficient because the two countries need a lot of reformations of their health systems in order to increase their effectiveness
