The present work investigates the Organization and Management of Health Units and the investigation of the role of job satisfaction. The main causes affecting the satisfaction of the medical staff working in the Emergency Departments (ICUs) and Intensive Care Units (ICU) were the main purpose of the study. The challenges and pressures in these areas are very strong as well as the impact on the psychosomatic balance of employees, but also in the provision of their services to patients. The Job Satisfaction Survey questionnaire of P.Spector was selected and the sample of the research was invited to participate medical and nursing staff of the General Hospital of Thessaloniki "G. Papageorgiou ”and the General Hospital of Thessaloniki“ Agios Dimitrios ”, applying random sampling. The results showed that the respondents express dissatisfaction with the salary, the promotion opportunities, as well as the privileges-benefits. On the contrary, satisfaction is observed in terms of the nature of the work, the relationships with colleagues and the supervisionsupervision. Finally, there was no dissatisfaction or satisfaction in the areas of reward- recognition, communication and working conditions. Those working in the ICU had a higher level of professional satisfaction compared to those working in the ICU. Overall, there is a moderate level of employee satisfaction in both hospitals. Age, years of work experience, marital status, income, and unit of employment were found to be significantly correlated with job satisfaction
