Η συναισθηματική νοημοσύνη των εκπαιδευτικών και ο ρόλος στη διαχείριση συγκρούσεων με τους μαθητές (Master thesis)

This Diploma Thesis is being prepared in the context of completion of the Postgraduate Program “Organization and Management of Educational Units” of the Department of Business Management of the International University of Greece. Its twin goal focuses on investigating teachers' emotional intelligence and detecting the effective management of conflicts that arise between teachers and students in secondary education. We also attempted to correlate teachers' degree of emotional intelligence with the choice of technique for dealing with a conflict situation with students. Emotional Intelligence is a complex concept that has attracted the interest of many scholars in recent years, not only in the school environment but also in the wider workplace. In stating bibliography, teachers' emotional intelligence is a key factor in shaping the appropriate learning climate in the classroom and in the successful and uninterrupted performance of their pedagogical and teaching work. On the other hand, conflicts in a living organism, such as the school, are inevitable and in some cases functional and constructive if they are properly managed by those involved. In the study, teachers' Emotional Intelligence scores were first assessed, and then conflict management techniques that teachers choose to tackle conflict situations with their students were used with another tool. The results showed that the teachers' emotional intelligence level is high and that in relation to the strategy of dealing with a conflict, the one chosen by the teachers most often is the one of cooperation.
