The existence and the creation of green spaces within the urban fabric is an important advantage against the negative effects of intense urbanization observed in recent years. Urban green spaces can serve a multitude of benefits for people and the environment, and even more so when these green spaces can be turned into environmental education parks. Environmental education parks aim to connect people with the natural environment. With this in mind, in this thesis research is carried out in the Ampelokipi area of Drama, an area on the edge of urban sprawl, with the aim of creating a design proposal for an educational environmental park. For this reason, characteristics of the natural environment of the area were taken into account, while the selection of plants was based on two criteria: plants that decorate the area having aesthetic value and plants that are the educational material of the area. The plant material chosen is mainly evergreen. shrubs and herbaceous plants that grow in the area of Drama and show resistance to climatic conditions but also deciduous mainly to create photo-shading in the park during the summer months. The creation of an environmental education park, in addition to the multiple benefits from an environmental and social point of view, also has a pure educational character for organized or non-organized actions, hosts flexible spaces and can be an important step in connecting the landscape in question with the surrounding environment area and the prominence of the city itself due to the uniqueness of the created landscape.
