Trust in online transactions is still vital to the success of e-commerce. The advent
of technology as a mediator of human life has a consequential value. The structure of this
paper is based on both a literature review and a research with the aim of investigating the
attitude of consumers towards the electronic shopping of products. In recent years, ecommerce
has become an integral part of the global retail landscape. Like many other
industries, the retail landscape has undergone a major transformation since the advent of
the Internet, and thanks to the ongoing digitization of modern life, consumers from almost
every country are now taking advantage of the benefits of online shopping. Internet users
can choose from various online platforms to browse, compare and buy the items or
services they need. While some sites specifically target B2B (business-to-business)
customers, individual consumers also present a huge number of digital possibilities. This
thesis consists of four chapters.
More specifically, in the first chapter, a bibliographic review is carried out
regarding electronic commerce in terms of definition, categories, advantages and
disadvantages. Then, in the second chapter, e-commerce in Greece is presented with the
use of statistical data in recent years. Then, in the third chapter, a review of research
regarding electronic commerce from the business side is carried out. Finally, in the fourth
chapter of the thesis, a research is carried out with the aim of investigating the existence
and use of an online store selling products by companies based in Mytilini. To conduct the
research, a questionnaire was given in electronic form. The questionnaire was shared via
email. The answers were obtained through google forms in excel format. A quantitative
analysis of the answers was done using Excel and the results were presented using graphs.
