This diploma thesis refers to the assessment of students’ performance in the traditional way that is currently taking place in schools, but also presents the alternative assessment techniques applied by modern European states.These techniques head to a new form of assessment, a formative assessment, that best meets the objectives of assessing student’s performance and these techniques are delineated a) by the students’ efforts in the areas of knowledge, skills and socialization, but also b) in improving and rewarding learning outcomes.
