In the present study we investigate the daily allocation of the workload of modern school directors. The modern school directors’ role is considered as determinant for the school’s smooth operation and, also, for the better provision of educational services. In fact, nowadays, the school director is charged with lots of responsibilities, so that his time is limited and his workload makes his career difficult. Consequently, many strategies are proposed today for the school directors’ better time management, which will have as a consequence a more effective school management. For the investigation of the directors’ daily workload, a quantitative research took place, by using questionnaires, in which directors of primary education of Salonica and Fthiotida department have answered. The most important foundings of the research showed that, generally, the directors’ daily workload has increased and they have to face more pressure. The most popular strategies they adopt for their time management are self- criticism and self- assessment and, also, they believe that there are ancillary agents, as programming, hierarchy of responsibilities, information, apportionment of responsibilities, co- operation, training and bureaucracy decrease
